Save the DATE for Chili’n on the Avenue 2011

North Avenue between 68th-71st Street

Chili’n is a HOT event with a bit of a CHILL! This  event is an invitation to amateurs and professionals to go head to head in Milwaukee’s only Nationally Sanctioned CASI Chili Competition.

CASI Chili Event Comes to North Avenue Wauwatosa

Tentatively scheduled for July 24th 2010 Chili’n on the Avenue will put amateurs and professionals head to head in Milwaukee’s only Nationally Sanctioned Chili Competition.

The Chili Appreciation Society International’s mission is to promote chili and raise money for charity. Each year, nearly ten thousand cooks share their chili fun and good deeds with each other, public, and sponsors at 600 CASI cookoffs, throughout the U.S. and neighboring countries. These CASI-sanctioned events raise over a million dollars, annually, for local charities and provide a chance for cooks to qualify for theTerlingua International Chili Championship. Making North Avenue Safer

Survey respondents voiced concern about walking along North Avenue. Among complaints noted were speed of traffic, illegal use of left turn lanes and noncompliance of yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks were specifically noted as deterrents. Sixty percent (60.1%) of survey respondents stated that the fact that traffic doesn’t yield to pedestrians in crosswalks “impacts” or “greatly impacts” the walk ability of North Avenue while over 90% of respondents felt the walk ability of North Avenue is “important” to “very important” to the success of North Avenue. The Alliance, working with elected officials, has been working to make North Avenue safer.
